Winter Cleaning - Etsy Sale.

Image
I am a big fan of spring cleaning, but with a new office I can't wait until spring to sort through some things the new room takes form. This is good news for you and anyone you feel like gifting some hand made book marks and original abstract paintings to!  (That is if you want to share, I won't tell if you don't.)  There is a new section on my etsy shop just for these items, you can find it here . Items are marked down to 50% in some cases. I love every piece that I've created; they've all shown me my strengths, my changing style, and my stubbornness to keep trying.  These items won't stay in the shop for long, so swing by, take look, and treat yo self! Happy creating, and happy shopping! December Drawing and Lettering Challenge 2016

Image
After taking a month off from drawing every day, I'd like to have another go. This time finding a drawing challenge was very easy; the hard part was picking one. The one that I will be following this December can be found here and is created by Dawn Nicole of Dawn Nicole Designs . I plan on posting these sketches and letterings every Monday starting the 5th of December and ending on the 2nd of January.  Hopefully, as with the October drawing challenge I did this year, I will be diligent and post here as well as on flickr and twitter. If you're doing a drawing, doodling, or lettering challenge in December, let me know, I'd love to hear from you on Twitter or email. Happy creating, and happy drawing! Thankful Reflections, 2016.

Image
With this last move, as with every move, my eyes have been reopened to how blessed I am. I would like to document how grateful I am, and how much we've been through, in this post. This is the season of giving thanks. And I realize this isn't fully something along the lines of creating. It is something that's needed, and will help me move forward in my creative process and in my life. This last pcs move was more emotionally stressful than physically stressful; the exact opposite of the last pcs move. This brought new challenges for my husband and I to get through together. I am thankful for having electricity and not having to worry about it. I am thankful for my dad and all the (stupid) flash lights that he loves to always give everyone. They came in handy when we were without power for so long. I am thankful for having running water within our home. I am thankful for having warm running water, for showers and cleaning. I am thankful for havin

Non Fic November

Image
Non Fic November challenge is something I stumbled upon a short time ago. I immediately got inspired by Gemma at Non Fic Books and Olive at A Book Olive over on YouTube with their simple and concise challenge.  I found these lovely ladies through one of Jen Campbell's videos.  (If you ever scroll through my goodreads shelves they are being more and more influenced by Jen's fairy magic like knowledge of books.) All of their links will be at the bottom of this post and I recommend you go check them out. I love how they've set up this challenge into four categories: New, Fascinating, Controversial, and Important.  So far, I've read, or finished reading, three books and am currently reading a fourth. I finished Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way , my important read, and Home: How Habitat Made Us Human , my new read.  To be fair, I started these two in October and September, respectively.  This challenge definitely helped me fin

PCS ing: Tips to Remember

Image
I had moved many times in college, approximately twice a year for 6 years. I am generally good at moving, packing, prepping, stressing, and playing car Tetris. With that said, prepping for and going through a pcs move is something entirely different. Our first pcs move was two weeks after our wedding, and as you can imagine, extremely stressful.  My husband had pcs-ed before, but not with me, two cats, and a fully furnished house. So there was a learning curve for both of us. And with our most recent pcs move now behind us, I thought this was a perfect time to compile this, both for you and as a reminder to myself. So here are a few things that I wish someone would have straight out told me about prepping and moving for a pcs move. These are numbered but not in any particular order. 1. ORGANIZE What I like to do is sort items by category.      All the books go into the master bed room.      All quilting, sewing, and painting items are sorted and condensed.      All p

Mountain Madness

In an effort to draw more, I've been trying to do small sketches aside from drawing challenges and other projects.  Subsequently, there's been a few mountains accumulating in my various sketch books.  It's safe to say I miss the Pacific Northwest and the beautiful mountains there.
