Card Making: Star Themed

Image
I took more time with these cards than I do with most cards that I make.  I also included these cards in the Star Wars themed care package, to stick with the 'star' part of the theme. They would alternatively be great as 'just because' cards, love notes, thinking of you cards, anniversary, or whatever else fits your fancy. For this one, I used a star punch on various blues that I tore out of old magazines.  For the sentiment, I simply block lettered it with a Micron 03 pen, on top of torn blue printer paper that I went over with a Copic marker, Phthalo Blue - B23, to give it texture and depth. For this card, I used die-cut stars from old book pages.  I used a light blue Copic marker in Powder Blue, B41, and then roughly outlined each star with a silver Sharpie.  I used that same Copic marker to lightly dust the card base with blue before gluing down the stars.  For the sentiment, I took a line from one of Coldplay's songs which I love an

Card Making: Star Wars Themed

These cards were included in a Star Wars themed care package.  As with each care pack I sent, I love adding cards that are of a similar theme.  To make these, I started with pre-made, smooth, white cards and envelopes from Core'dinations in size A2; so your standard 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches.  I added patterned paper and then hand lettered the sentiment on the cards.  I finished the cards with going around the edges in a matching colored marker. I went in a very puny direction for these cards.  Hubby loves puns and sometimes I can't help myself either. For the dark side card, I wanted to stick to typical dark side colors: red and black.  I included cookies in the care package and couldn't help but make this card. For the light side cards, I took color inspiration from the green and blue light sabers from the movies, as well as continuing on with puns as the sentiments.  For the envelopes, I doodled stars with a silver

Celebrating Shakespeare Week - Favorite Plays

Celebrating Shakespeare Week Some of my Favorite Plays To help celebrate Shakespeare week this year, which is the 12 - 18th of March, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite plays by the bard himself.  I've read these throughout the years and with each reread and new interpretation they remain some of my all time favorites and go-to's when I'm in the mood for a great play. Hamlet Hamlet is one of the more dramatic plays that I adore.  It's twisted, grey, and greatly adapted in a variety of mediums.  Whether on stage or screen, I love it. Macbeth Similar to Taming of the Shrew, this is one of my most reread play.  I love the characters and their flaws. In any rendition, I'm always drawn to this play and it's players. Othello I love how dramatic and gritty this play is.  I love the characters and the raw wit and emotion. This one even made it onto my favorite books of 2017 post! The Taming of the Shrew

Card Making: Moving Cards / PCS Cards

Image
PCS - Moving Cards - Change of Address Cards I wish I had this idea in 2016 when we had two PCS moves! But here it is for our next one and for anyone who has a move coming up.  This is a more or less a courtesy card, of 'this is our new address!' I know it can be one more thing to tack onto an already long and stressful list while moving, but my thought is if the cards are cute it's a great way to start to memorize your new mailing address.  I also love making cards in batches like this, the repetition is therapeutic.  With that being said, the map element I used was from two scraps from happy mail, so I needed to make a few variations of this simple card.  On the back of each card, I added some detail: a simple post stamp, with date and initials. And of course, more detail: the flap of the envelope. I really can't help myself. Happy creating, and happy card making! For business inquire
