2017 TBR List

Image
Happy New Year! 2016 was a great reading year for me even though I didn't do a TBR. I went through books faster than I have in a long time. I usually stay away from TBRs and read whatever I fancy at the time.  However, 2017 is looking to be an amazing and terrifying year. 17 is my favorite number and I'm hoping that it will be wonderful regardless what happens. There are many new adventures awaiting us with this new year. A few of these adventures are in the forms of books. In making this list, they literally took up a whole shelf, hopefully I can get through most of them. The books I hope to read throughout this new year are as follows. Esme of Paris is a reread, and I adored it the first time. In 2015, I actually found a copy of it that was signed by Esme Davis herself, and it is one of my most valued and favorite books (paired with my loved and signed copy of 1 Dead in Attic by Chris Rose , I adored that as well.) Seed of the Serpent is her only other book t...

Hiatus Alert!

Hello Lovies, I will be temporarily MIA until the 4th of January.  There are a few reasons for this hiatus; some more simple than others.  Mainly I need a small break to freshen things before the new year starts out.  In the mean time, I wish you all are safe, happy, and healthy. Happy creating, and Happy New Year! Top Ten Reads of 2016

Top Ten Reads of 2016 Throughout 2016 I read over 30 books, most of which I highly enjoyed. There were a few duds as well as a few that I started reading and still have not finished. There were some that truly stood out the most to me when reflecting on this past year's reads.  Below you will find my favorites and a little insight into just why they grabbed my attention and stayed with me throughout the year. Enjoy! This poetry collection, for me, was simply beautiful. It was honest, straight forward, and heart felt. It was very refreshing to read poetry from her perspective.  Loads of emotion and insight pour from the page.  At one point I was sitting on the kitchen counter, reading, waiting for dinner to finish. I loved her book so much that I looked her up searching for more beautiful and honest written words. I won't go into what she does exactly, as she does a lot. It is very inspiring work and I recommend that you look h...

2016: A Quilting and Sewing Year in Review

Image
Amidst a wedding, two moves, a promotion, a graduation, the adoption and lost of a kitten, and family visits, I have been lucky enough to have finished some smaller and larger quilting projects.  This is the most active I have been with sewing since early 2014 when I had some time on my hands after graduating college. Some of these pieces are Christmas gifts, and some of them just gifts. Some are finished tops, and some are completely finished, quilted pieces. Regardless, I am chocked at how much I have accomplished this year with my trusty sewing machine. Red, White, and Blue Star Quilt To find out more about this beauty check out these two previous posts: Red, White, and Blue - 4 Years in the Making. Red, White, and Blue - A Closer Look. Simplified U. S. Flag Pillow I have a lot of red, white, and blue fabrics in my stash. I also had a faux fur cover rectangle pillow that didn't match our décor. Adding the two together, and a short about of ma...
