100 Days Project - Days 91 - 100.

After many days, I have finished the 100 days project. These last 100, plus, days have added another layer of creating, stress, joy,  as well as stress relief to my daily schedule. This project helped push me and expand my various thoughts on what my abstract paintings can be. A few days of the 100, I really did not like the end result of the painting. Luckily this project isn't about the daily result, it's about the process of creating, over and over and over again. I knew this therapeutic repetition would be helpful, but I didn't realize it would be pushing me as much as it has.  With this in mind, I really enjoyed creating these 100 pieces. It gave me a small zen moment in the mornings when I worked on these. Even on days where the painting didn't turn out how I had intended, the act of painting was mostly enjoyable.  I am planning on trying my hand at expanding some of the paintings and ideas that I came across and created throughout this project.

Yes! It is now complete, all 100 days! Now I have the joy of having another project complete. It's the simple things that make me happy, really... 100 plus days later.. Don't mind me.

Book Making: Magazine Junk Journal

Book Making: Making a Junk Journal It may be no surprise that I love art journals and junk journals. So I decided to make my own junk journal from scratch, well, from scrap magazine pages. For the main body of the journal, I'm using magazine pages that are glued two together. I then folded the new pages in half and put them into signatures of 4 each. I punched holes into the signatures about an inch apart.  After waxing the embroidery floss, I stitched the signatures together.  For the cover, I was going to use the cover an architecture magazine as it's thicker, but I ended up using two sheets of cut down 12 by 12 inch paper.  I liked the idea of using white paper so that I can properly have my way with the covers.  I can't wait to add gesso and paint and anything else my heart desires to these new pages. Christmas Mini Quilts - Getting the Most From 5 Fat Quarters

Christmas Mini Quilts Getting the Most From 5 Fat Quarters I've had a stack of five Christmas fat quarters for longer than I'd like to admit. Too many ideas filtered through my head until I finally decided on trying to get the most out of the fabric.  Since the pattern isn't specific to the holidays, this can be applied to any set of fabric. I cut all five fat quarters into four inch strips, and then into 4 inch squares, keeping all scraps to the side.  From this I separated them out first into the larger table runner using 36 squares, and arranging them into a rectangle of 4 by 9.  I decided to go with an angled pattern for the layout, but you could also place them randomly.  The finished size is 13 inches by 29 inches. This one fits well on the coffee table and the dining room table. 2016: A Quilting and Sewing Year in Review

Amidst a wedding, two moves, a promotion, a graduation, the adoption and lost of a kitten, and family visits, I have been lucky enough to have finished some smaller and larger quilting projects.  This is the most active I have been with sewing since early 2014 when I had some time on my hands after graduating college. Some of these pieces are Christmas gifts, and some of them just gifts. Some are finished tops, and some are completely finished, quilted pieces. Regardless, I am chocked at how much I have accomplished this year with my trusty sewing machine.
